Google Nest announced an all-new Nest Cam lineup this summer with its indoor/outdoor Nest Cam (battery) and Nest Doorbell (battery), the latest announcement is the Nest Cam with floodlight and the Nest Cam (indoor, wired) which are all available to Google Pro Select dealers in the CI channel through ProStore USA (https://www.prostoreusa.com).
The Nest Cam wired is the entry-level camera in the lineup and is smaller than the indoor/outdoor Nest Cam, which can be wired or use its built-in battery. The indoor model has a 2-megapixel color sensor, 16:9 aspect ratio, with 1080p video at up to 30fps, plus it has a 135-degree field of view and 6x digital zoom.
One unique feature about the Nest Cam wired is that it comes in four colors: Snow (white), Sand (pink) with a maple wood base, Linen (beige), or Fog (green). A first in the smart home security camera space and allows homeowners to complement their interior design.

The Nest Cam with floodlight is the outdoor Nest Cam attached to two lights with adjustable brightness (up to 2,400 lumens). It can stream up to 1080p video with HDR and has a 130-degree diagonal field of view (motion detection is only a 110-degree horizontal field of view) with 6x digital zoom. It requires permanent power and has to be wired through a standard outdoor junction box. The camera is rated IP54 and the floodlight is rated IP65 for weatherproofing.
The key feature here is that the floodlight cam uses on-device intelligence to detect people, animals, and vehicles rather than just relying on a motion sensor, as most floodlight cams do.

All the new Nest cameras use built-in intelligence and on-device processing, which means less reliance on processing information using the cloud and no additional cost for animal, person, and vehicle detection. A customer can also create Activity Zones and get three hours of event-based video without a subscription.
Internal storage on the cameras will record up to an hour of footage (about a week’s worth of events) in case a power or internet outage occurs. For more than three hours of video clips, or to enable 24/7 recording on the Nest Cam wired and Nest Cam with floodlight, a customer would need to pay for a Nest Aware subscription, starting at $6 a month. This also enables Nest’s Familiar Faces feature that will tell a homeowner which person it’s seen instead of a generic person alert.
Note: The new Nest Cams use the Google Home app and do not work with the Nest app. If the homeowner has previous versions of the Nest Cams, then they would need to use two apps or upgrade the other Nest Cams to utilize only the Google Home app.
